Fresno’s streets are the backbone of our city – connecting neighborhoods, supporting businesses and keeping our community moving. But after decades of wear and tear, too many of our roads are cracked, rutted and filled with potholes. Without action, these problems will only get worse and more expensive to fix.

That is why the City of Fresno launched Pave More Now – a $100 million bond program under the direction of Mayor Jerry Dyer that is dedicated to repairing and rebuilding our streets. This is the largest single investment in road improvements in our city’s history and is designed to deliver results quickly and efficiently.

Why it Matters

Fresno’s Street Network

Fresno’s street network spans more than 1,800 miles.

Pavement Condition Index (PCI)

Our most recent Pavement Condition Index (PCI) rates Fresno’s streets at an average of 60, which is considered “fair” or “at-risk.”

Nearly One-Third of our Local Roads Fall Below Fair

Nearly one-third of our local roads fall below that standard, with ratings like 22 on Shields Avenue – which is rated in “very poor” condition.
